The Couch Critics

Between Episodes: The Life of a Multi-Hat Critic

Season 5 Episode 75

"Send us a Text!"

Missing movies, busy schedules, and the commitment to never miss an episode - this quick update from Couch Critics host Nathan gives listeners a peek behind the podcast curtain.

The hunt for "Call Me Claus" starring Whoopi Goldberg turned into an unexpected adventure when the holiday film proved impossible to find on any streaming service. After exhausting all options including social media outreach, Nathan discovered the movie will finally be available on Tubi starting December 1st. Rather than skipping a week or reviewing a film he hasn't watched, he's rescheduled the Whoopi Goldberg holiday feature for when it becomes accessible - maintaining both the podcast's consistency and critical integrity.

This brief episode offers rare insight into the juggling act of content creation. Nathan balances his roles as teacher, improv artist, husband, father, and children's ministry worker while keeping the podcast's release schedule intact. Meanwhile, the upcoming Cinema Saturday episode remains a mystery even to him, dependent on whether he and his wife manage to catch their planned screening before the episode drops.

Speaker 1:

Hey everybody, welcome to a brand new episode of the Couch Critics. I am your host, nathan, and if you listened to our Cinema Sunday episode, you might remember that I said I was not able to find the movie I was going to review today, and that was going to be Call Me Claus starring Whoopi Goldberg. I couldn't find it anywhere. I reached out on social media, looked to see if anyone owned it. Possibly no one owns it, but that does not mean I will not be reviewing this movie. I just won't be reviewing it today. Obviously, it's not fair, if I hadn't watched the movie, to try to review it. But I did find that this movie will be releasing on Tubi, the streaming service the free streaming service starting December 1st. So I'm pushing back the Call Me Claws episode until I can actually watch it. So I just wanted to do an episode, because I don't like there being times where we don't release an episode. I don't want there to be any space in between episodes. So here is an episode talking about how I'm not going to be reviewing a movie. Obviously, this is going to be a short but sweet episode, because I'm not reviewing anything and I still don't know what I'm going to be reviewing on Cinema Saturday. It's kind of up in the air. It depends on, by the time this episode drops, whether my wife and I were able to go see a movie that we were planning on going to see or not. So obviously I'm not going to tell you the title because I don't know if we're going to be able to see it yet, because by the time I'm recording this we have not seen it. But by the time this episode drops we may have seen it.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I know Confusing, but that's the life of a teacher, improv artist, husband, father, all the things, children's ministry worker, all this stuff. So yeah, my life is busy, but, like I said, I don't want there to ever be a pause in between episodes. So that is why I'm doing this. Thank you for listening. If there is a movie that you may want me to watch, or want Mitch to watch, or Katie to watch, or my wife to watch, or Lexi to watch or Taj to watch Any of the couch critics, let us know. Click that, send us a text message and send us a movie idea, or maybe just say hi, it would be nice to say hi. Have someone say hi to us.

Speaker 1:

Be, nice, but thank you seriously. Thank you for following us on all our social media platforms, and this is the Couch Critics, where every movie gets its close-up.

Speaker 2:

It's not just a movie, it's a way of life. We'll watch it together, day or night, so settle in close and don't miss a flick. This is the moment for the couch critic.
