Speaker 2:

Spoiler alert. Spoiler alert. Spoiler alert. Just give me one more drink and then I'll leave. That's not how it works. It does now Leave the bottle. I know you bub Nope, but I know you.

Speaker 1:

Everybody knows me. I'm the Wolverine. Yes, you are, and I'm going to need you to come with me right now. Look, lady, I'm not interested Really getting into your cups here. Why would I go with you? Because, unfortunately, I need you and, even more unfortunately, my entire world needs you. Hello everyone, welcome to a surprise Saturday episode. I'm super excited about this one because I already hinted at it, like the previous episode, so it's not really a surprise. And it's kind of hard to make this a surprise because we're talking about Deadpool and Wolverine, the newest. Yes, oh yes, and I have a special guest. This is a person who's never been on the show before At least I don't believe she has and I'm super excited to have her. Can you introduce yourself, please?

Speaker 2:

Hey everyone, it's me, Christine Orozco. I am not somebody that you would know at all, but I am a friend of Nathan's. We've done Sweet Tea, shakespeare Theater together. He's a hoot and a holler. We have good laughs, and so I'm excited to be on the podcast.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, christine is hilarious. We've done a lot of drunken Shakespeare shows together, so I can attest to how funny she is. What I think is probably one of the funniest Marvel Cinematic Universe movies to be made. But before we can talk about it, I have to go over the synopsis. Deadpool is offered a place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe by the Time Variance Authority, but instead recruits a variant of Wolverine to save his universe from extinction. Deadpool and Wolverine stars Ryan Reynolds, hugh Jackman, emma Corrin, matthew McFadden and a buttload of cameos. I said this before if you haven't seen the movie, you don't want to listen to this episode, because we're going to spoil the crap out of it. It's kind of hard.

Speaker 2:

Spoilers galore.

Speaker 1:

It's kind of hard to talk about this movie without spoiling it. It's kind of hard Spoilers galore. Yeah, it's kind of hard to talk about this movie without spoiling it. But before we can spoil it, you're fairly familiar with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, correct?

Speaker 2:

Oh yeah, there's only like a few movies I haven't seen. I didn't watch Loki or like any of the spinoff shows, but I've seen basically all of the films and you're familiar with the Fox era of Marvel movies like x-men oh yeah, all the x-men movies. Cyclops was my first crush crush. James marsden omg, yeah, yeah, so I know baby wolverine all the way up to sad old logan when he died so going into this movie.

Speaker 1:

This is the third in the Deadpool franchise. It's like the 1,256,000th of the Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise. This movie, from start to finish, is just one heck of a ride. It is so much fun. Christine, what were your initial thoughts when you saw this movie?

Speaker 2:

What were your initial thoughts when you saw this movie? I was delighted the entire time. Obviously, you know Deadpool. He's the fourth wall character breaker, so, like, obviously, the movie is going to talk about itself, it's going to be a self commentary and it was very funny. It was just everything you would expect from a Deadpool movie Lots of laughs, you know, some blood, some funny jokes. I was delighted the entire time. Plus, we saw in 40X, which means the chairs are moving and like there was water effects and stuff. So it was really immersive, really cool, really funny. I had a blast.

Speaker 1:

I want to mention one FDX moment which wasn't in this movie. It was in one of the trailers for the new Captain America movie movie and I don't know if they were trying to figure out like the good moments to have like the seats move or anything, but there's a moment where captain america and harrison ford's character shake hands, and they just shake hands. That's all they do, and for some reason the seat just went like back and forth, like that was supposed to be like an epic movement moment, and so me and christine had a good laugh at that, because it was very strategic where to place the seat movement. In this movie as well, there's only really one big moment that it kind of fits, and it's towards the end of the movie that the seat movement actually fit. But I mean, yeah, it was, it was really, really fun. So had you seen any of the Deadpool movies, I think you had mentioned that you weren't familiar with some of the characters.

Speaker 1:

No, I saw the first couple of movies, but I only ever watched them once and I don't remember anything about them so we are going to talk about the cameos, but before we do that, if you were to pick maybe one or three likes in this movie, what would they be?

Speaker 2:

My number one definitely has to be the Henry Cavill cameo, because he's my ultimate husband, lol. So there's that. I really liked OMG the Chris Evans bit because spoiler alert they do the Fantastic Four thing which I didn't see coming. My friends around me saw it, like Tracy, she definitely saw it coming because they showed the vehicle which I didn't notice. But then when Deadpool was waiting for him to say Avengers is simple and he said Flavon did not see that coming, you know, and it was hilarious. So I'd have to say that's bit. Number two. And then for me number three, I think would be Gambit, because he was one of my favorite X-Men characters and so seeing him in a variant form was also really fun for me.

Speaker 1:

The Gambit cameo was really awesome because, if you know the history behind Channing Tatum, he is Gambit in this movie. If you know the history behind the fact that they for the longest time he had wanted to play this character, they had lined him up to be in one of the previous X-Men movies. His scheduling conflicts were not able to allow him to do that and so they had rumor that he was going to be in his own Gambit movie. That fell through. So, just like with the Deadpool, they made a lot of jokes about how his character never came to fruition. But to go back to your first big, like your Henry Cavill cameo, can you explain to our listeners, who may have seen the movie but they didn't quite understand or haven't seen the movie and they just don't care about spoilers Can you explain what? What is that all about?

Speaker 2:

During the movie, you know, deadpool is on a quest to find a variant of Wolverine because of course in Logan, you know, real Wolverine died. So now he has to go to the multiverse and try to find, like, a suitable Wolverine. So while he's montaging and he's jumping around different universes, there's this one Wolverine. It. We like the audience is baited to think it's logan and we're like oh, mj, it's him, it's him. And then he turns his face and deadpool's like wait, you kind of look like. And then he turns around and it's henry cavill and then I think he like beats him up or something. Uh, but it's just awesome and I guess it's a nod to like is he going to be the next wolverine or something.

Speaker 1:

But it was, it was fun yeah, I think a lot of people were wondering is it like when they revealed john krasinski as mr fantastic and the dr strange movie? Was this like fan service? Was just like a like a punch the face to dc, or was this foreshadowing something that could happen in the future? I thought it was great. I thought all the different montages of the different types of wolverines were hilarious. The chris evans thing, like you stated, I didn't see that coming either. I thought that was hilarious. I thought it was very clever, very smart. Um, because the whole, the whole hiccup has been like they've always had different actors play different characters and these different marvel movies. And then the announcement that uh, katie and I, my co-host, talked about episode, the fact that they're having Robert Downey Jr come back as Doctor Doom which people are confused about.

Speaker 1:

Some people are kind of ticked off about it. I think it's going to be awesome because it's Robert Downey Jr. Yeah it's Robert Downey Jr. You can't go wrong with that. So we kind of went over all the cameos. There are other ones like Elektra.

Speaker 1:

Jennifer garner comes back but one of the biggest deals that a lot of people yelled and screamed about was wesley snipes, when he came out as blade omg yes, um, and his line that there will never be another blade, because you know, obviously they're trying to make another one, and so this movie was just I just thought it was brilliant. I was, I was kind of hesitant and worried about it. Did you feel this way that the fact that Disney was making this and Disney has kind of had a track record with Marvel, or were you like no-transcript? No-transcript.
